Monitoring of the flower strip program in Saxony-Anhalt
Project priorities
To promote biodiversity in agricultural landscapes, Saxony-Anhalt is promoting the creation of perennial flower strips and flowering areas as part of its agri-environmental and climate measures (AUKM). The use of native wild plants from certified, regional wild plant sources is mandatory for the creation of perennial flower strips and flowering areas.
In the project, practical areas (perennial flower strips and flowering areas) are examined in terms of vegetation science with regard to their establishment and development success. Further trials on the successful establishment of wild plant-rich and pure wild plant seeds for perennial flower strips are being continued. The results are being transferred into practice to support the successful implementation of the support program. For knowledge transfer, recommendations for action and advisory content are being developed, and technical support and training are being provided to participating institutions.
